We’re officially here!

The Auckland Hospital Foundation has launched publicly to advance healthcare for all New Zealanders.

More than 100 people attended the official launch event at the Northern Club, which started with a Powhiri by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Trust, before MC Petra Bagust shared her passion for helping to advance healthcare in our communities.

As an Auckland Hospital Foundation ambassador, Petra is hugely supportive of the charity, particularly the work it will do to promote wellness outside of the hospital environment as well as within it.

“My experience of Auckland City Hospital is that, as well as great knowledge and world leading-practice, the teams have huge hearts. That was evident a year ago when my father was in hospital. The kindness and care he received was as excellent as the treatment. We really are so fortunate to have this facility on our doorstep. But it doesn’t just happen. With your support and mine we can help Auckland City Hospital improve and grow – enabling teams to provide even better service to even more people. We have an amazing opportunity to give financially so they can give of their time and expertise – saving lives and extending the wellbeing of New Zealanders like you and me.

“As well as looking after everyone who needs their care, they are training the next generation of clinical experts to be world class. I’ve witnessed first-hand how great Auckland Auckland City Hospital’s education and research programmes are, so I know that any donation you can make will help them not only today, but for future generations. Let’s continue to share the love and spread the word to encourage others to support the Auckland Hospital Foundation and be part of this worthy project. Together, we can help the incredible teams at Auckland City Hospital make healthcare even better for you, your family and friends,” says Petra.

The foundation goes beyond what is currently funded in the healthcare system to help Auckland City Hospital patients benefit from innovative technology, research and facilities.  Here to support adult health services within Auckland City Hospital, its creation follows extensive evaluation of the financial needs of the Auckland City Hospital and how best to meet the population’s growing healthcare needs.

Auckland City Hospital is the regional provider of vital services across many of its departments, and in some complex cases, the national provider – caring for more than 347,000 New Zealanders every year.

Auckland Hospital Foundation CEO, Gwen Green, says the charity is committed to improving health outcomes for patients, families and communities, not only in Auckland but throughout New Zealand.

“When people support the Auckland Hospital Foundation, they can feel confident their contribution will result in healthcare advancements, which could not be developed without their investment.

“We might be new and small, but we intend to make a big impact, and help people far and wide. We look forward to working with the amazing teams across Auckland City Hospital, and with grateful patients and the public, to realise our goal of world-class healthcare,” says Green.

Green says, “We know many people have personal connections to a particular service or ward, and they will always be able to donate to the Auckland City Hospital department that helped them or their loved one.
