With your help, we will refurbish 42 whānau rooms, giving them much-needed makeovers to better care for patients’ loved ones.
When you’re in hospital, we know how important it is to have loved ones nearby. If holding your hand, offering support or simply being present, your family should always feel “at home” in the hospital.
We also know it’s important that family and friends have somewhere they can gather, within the ward, where they can take time out and relax.
We believe whānau rooms should be welcoming, warm, comfortable, practical and give loved ones the space they need in often challenging circumstances.
Through our Whānau Rooms Rejuvenation Project, we are aiming to refurbish more than 40 whānau rooms across Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre.
The Strategy, Participation & Improvement Team (SPI) team at Auckland DHB has completed an audit of all its whānau rooms to ensure the specific needs of each room are met, and the people who use each room are heard, so they become havens for friends and family.
There are numerous ways to support this project, from donating funds to gifts-in-kind and corporate partnerships.
