This autumn, we are counting our blessings and heading into winter with optimism, thanks to supporters like you. During these tough economic times, we have been blown away by people’s continued generosity, and we are so grateful to have received gifts that are truly accelerating what’s possible at Auckland City Hospital.

From supporting a Fellowship and training opportunities that build expertise in caring for New Zealand’s most challenging cardiac patients, to multiple recent gifts towards Rise scholarships for aspiring nurses and midwives, we deeply appreciate when our community sees the value in helping hospital teams excel for the benefit of patients.
Similarly, empowering teams to conduct clinical research that wouldn’t be possible without supporters like you, is essential to pushing healthcare boundaries. In this newsletter, we explore what puts our hospital’s research in a league of its own in New Zealand.
Our cover story features a beloved former patient, Theresa, whose husband Michael chose to honour her life with a gift that holds true meaning. It is hard to adequately express the gratitude we feel when we receive a bequest or a gift in memory of a loved one; we truly appreciate the magnitude of the decision to support the hospital during such a difficult time. When a family like Theresa’s chooses to make a difference in our hospital, it is our honour to ensure their gift has a lasting impact and always meets their loved one’s wishes.
In this newsletter, we also meet three of our 300+ hospital volunteers, and we discover what makes their vital roles so meaningful – for them and those they care for each week. And we hear from Fritha Hanning, who heads up our Regional Cancer Centre | Te Pūriri o Te Ora. She shares a powerful message about how supporters like you have affected her team.
Like all our hospital teams you support, we are immensely grateful for the difference you make, and we look forward to sharing new projects on the horizon that will accelerate pathways towards world-class healthcare for all New Zealanders – together.
