Increasing world-class research opportunities
Auckland City Hospital is home to New Zealand’s largest clinical research facility. Your support accelerates ground-breaking discoveries that shape the future of healthcare.
Your gifts help teams turn bold ideas into real-world impact. By supporting patient-focused research, you’re fostering a world-class environment where innovation thrives – leading to better treatments, better outcomes, and a healthier future for all.

We exist to go over and above essential hospital services
While government funding supports essential services, the majority of research sits outside its capacity. That’s where we step in – bridging the gap between what’s needed and what’s possible – helping medical teams explore new frontiers in treatment, prevention, and cure.
Unlike other research facilities, at Auckland City Hospital, research is integrated with care. It’s not hidden away in a lab – it’s happening right alongside patients who stand to benefit most.
In oncology, for example, clinical trials can offer patients access to new medicines they may not otherwise be able to afford or receive – treatments that might bring fewer side effects or more time with their whānau. Researchers are finding better ways to detect and treat bowel cancer. Others are developing groundbreaking therapies for genetic conditions through initiatives like Punaha Io – the New Zealand Neurogenetics Research Bank. They’re improving heart health through donor-funded cardiology fellowships, and advancing women’s health through surgical fellowships that simply wouldn’t exist without philanthropic support.
These pioneering projects are made possible by people like you. They are at the heart of why we exist – to ensure every patient has access to the very best treatments – not just today, but far into the future.
