Leaving a gift in your Will, no matter how big or small, means we can do more for the thousands of people who need our help every year.
Your gift (bequest) will always be utilised in the area of greatest need and where you can have the greatest impact. Or, you can choose for your bequest to be spent within a particular hospital department or service.
Bequests help fund projects that would otherwise not be funded, but will significantly improve health outcomes for future generations. Your gift will help hospital teams do even more for patients and whānau in their care.
We understand that leaving a gift in your Will is a deeply personal decision. We respect your circumstances and that priorities may change, and so might your Will.
We promise to use your gift to advance healthcare in our hospital.
Please contact us on 09 307 6039 with any questions you may have about how your planned gift will be used. Anything you discuss with us will be held in the strictest confidence.
After you have considered your loved ones’ needs in your Will, please consider the size and type of gift you would like to leave to the hospital, such as a set amount, a residual gift, or a percentage of your estate.
Your solicitor or a body like the Public Trust can guide you through the process of creating or amending your Will. To include a gift to the hospital in your Will, please ensure you include the correct wording, as provided below. If you already have a Will, it can be updated by way of a codicil, using the same wording.
“I give and bequeath to the Auckland Hospital Foundation CC55587, the sum of $xx, (or) xx% of my estate, (or) the residue of my estate free of all charges, to be used where most needed within Auckland City Hospital and its associated sites, and the official receipt of the Auckland Hospital Foundation will be sufficient acknowledgement of having received this gift.”
Ask your solicitor to check the exact wording, based on above, and please ask them to provide the suggested phrase to us, so we can assure you that your gift will be spent to meet your expectations.
For your bequest to be designated to a specific hospital department, please note this in place of “to be used where most needed” above.
It would be helpful if you tell us about your intentions to leave a gift in your will to the Auckland Hospital Foundation. It is not binding; and you can still change your mind at any time.
Telling us simply means we can recognise your kindness and thank you personally for your generosity. We would like the opportunity to keep you updated on our work, and communicate with you in a way that best suits you.
Please contact us on 09 307 6039 if you have any questions about possibly leaving a gift to the hospital in your Will. Any details you share with us are treated in the strictest confidence.
We are so grateful to you for considering leaving a gift that will help improve the health of future generations.
Be a supporter for future generations in our hospitals and fund the innovation that saves lives.
