Accelerating world-class facilities and technology

Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand’s largest public hospital, providing critical national health services.

Every day, patients rely on our world-class healthcare teams for life-saving care. Your support helps us give those teams innovative equipment and resources that empower them to perform at their highest potential.

Your impact goes over and above the essentials

Government funding covers the healthcare basics, while we exist to help make world-class facilities, technologies, and specialist equipment accessible to every New Zealander.  We cannot be at the forefront of innovation with government funds alone – it takes all of us.

Simulation training equipment, for example, is only partially government funded but it is crucial to giving our healthcare teams risk-free, lifelike training that prepares them to treat patients in every imaginable scenario.  And, with simulation technology advancing quicker than ever, teams need our support to get the latest and greatest equipment. From life-saving CPR training manikins and eye surgery simulators, to critical care manikins and birthing simulators, our supporters' impact is far-reaching and profound.

Their gifts continue to help our midwives who deliver 7,000+ babies annually, assist ophthalmologists who perform around 4,000 cataract removals and inner eye surgeries each year, and support cardiovascular clinicians who place New Zealand's most critical patients on ECMO – the miracle life support machine.

For patients recovering in intensive care, the gift of a supine bike is aiding rehabilitation and improving recovery outcomes; while other donations are making an impact across the hospital – helping stroke patients, cancer patients, dialysis patients, MND patients, eating disorder patients – the list goes on.

Our supporters are transforming patients’ lives and empowering our incredible teams to save even more lives, using technologies that wouldn't otherwise be available.

“We were incredibly grateful to receive an initial donation that helped us kick-start the Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery programme. It has meant we can do more cases, which is a great thing. The more resources we have, the more we can do for the people we treat.”

–Dr Christine Goh, Cardiothoracic Surgeon, at the forefront of Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery in NZ
