Putting patients’ lives in the safest hands

The team that treats all Kiwis facing critical heart and lung conditions and transplants can now get the world's best simulation training equipment, thanks to the amazing generosity of The Lion Foundation.

ECMO

As the country's top Cardiovascular team, and the only provider of ECMO (the miracle life-support machine), this gift will build skill-sets and extend learning like never before in New Zealand.

The grant of $136,000 has gone towards SimMan 3G Critical Care Manikin, which is one of the world's most realistic simulation manikins, allowing the team to train and improve for every life-threatening scenario in a risk-free "real-life" setting. The team is immensely grateful!

Cardiovascular specialists from across New Zealand will also come to Auckland City Hospital for training with SimMan – broadening skill-sets nationwide

This life-saving gift demonstrates the value of community funding providing benefits for people from all over New Zealand.
