Meaningful pieces of art for the Auckland City Hospital walls

From gifts to our Art Fund, we've recently purchased works from Toi Ora Live Art Trust, a wonderful organisation offering free, professional, creative classes to support mental health and wellbeing.

Creativity has the power to heal, and Toi Ora empowers people to express themselves, build confidence, and connect through over 20 different visual, performing, and literary arts programmes.

Susanne Ritzenhoff, Director of Toi Ora Live Art Trust, shares: "On behalf of Toi Ora, I would like to thank Auckland City Hospital for purchasing artwork from our artists. Each sale is mana-enhancing for our artists, affirming their talent and giving them a boost both mentally and financially. It also supports Toi Ora, with a small commission helping us operate and pave the way for more artists to thrive."

It is thanks to donations that we can collaborate with organisations, like Toi Ora, to enhance our hospital spaces for everyone who walks through our doors.

Art plays an important role in our hospital. It offers patients, visitors, and healthcare workers a moment of comfort and inspiration, helping the hospital feel less clinical. A simple moment with a beautiful piece of art can lift people's spirits, even during the toughest times.

Every artwork in our collection aims to create a more welcoming and calming environment. And there’s always room for more! With your support, we can give a little more beauty to people facing life's toughest challenges.
